A series of forms created by cutting steel tube along the seam. The release intension creates new geometry. Done by hand with a bandsaw. The cut introduces new opportunity for the medium. The material properties found in steel tube, straightness and strength are abandoned. By stripping the structural integrity and dimension, deviation and unpredictability are embraced.

Deflection Forms was a part of Double Entendre, an exhibition that aimed to give intention to undesirable phenomena. Emerging designers from Toronto and Montréal participated in this exhibition during the 2024 DesignTO festival. Showing at Project 107 Gallery in a building waiting to be demolished, the gallery embraces impermanence, fitting with the show’s central theme.
